According to its co-founder Sahil Handa, Lines, a new crypto messaging platform, has secured $4 million in a seed round led by former Twitter VP Elad Gil. Handa said that the two other co-founders of Lines, who also studied philosophy at Harvard, are “developing an app that enables users to send messages from wallet to wallet and join group chats” based on the tokens they own. Social Messaging-Web3 Intersection According to a recent TechCrunch article, lead investor Gil stated that the “intersection of social messaging and web3” is one of the “more exciting areas of cryptocurrency right now.” Hash3, Scalar Capital, Volt Capital, Caffeinated Capital, Ethereal Ventures, Mischief, Naval Ravikant, Balaji Srinivasan, and Gokul Rajaram were among the other participants in the round. As stated by Handa, a user’s Lines mailbox would “follow them around in the browser” as they navigate other DAO apps and NFT platforms, allowing them to start discussions with users “who own the same tokens as them” or are “members of the same communities.” Farcaster Social Networking Technology Gil told TechCrunch that he was aware of “other teams working on identification, social layers, and communication on top of Web3.” He added that Lines might be in competition with other Web3 messaging apps.
